The Medici fortresses

An imposing complex which surrounds the historic center of the town of Portoferraio and ensured the safety of navigation in the Tyrrhenian Sea. The main strongholds of the fortifications are Forte Stella, Forte Falcone and the octagonal tower of the Linguella, at the harbor entrance.
